South Africa Rugby Team Clinches Victory At World Sevens

Great news for the fans of South African rugby team- The mighty squad has proved their stellar merit once again by clinching victory at the 3rd leg of Rugby World Sevens with a crushing triumph over New Zealand. It was a 26-17 score and the match was hosted at Port Elizabeth.

The Kiwis looked really strong initially as they reached the finale but the host nation came up with a great 12-5 lead, courtesy tries from Cecil Afrika and Philip Snyman. But with Cecil sin-binned, the NZ squad lessened the very deficit to 2 points with Webber (Joe) scoring right on stroke of the half-time.

Gonetoga Rugby Team from Fiji arrives in Sydney for Rugby Sevens Tournament

Fijian rugby team arrives in Sydney. The 15 member strong Gonetoga rugby squad is all set to compete in the Rugby Sevens Tournament at the Fiji Day Sydney festival, against other pacific contenders. The team members are from the Rewa province which includes the capital city Suva, they are the first ever team from Rewa to participate in this tournament. The tournament will be held in Parramatta this weekend.
Being a part of the Fiji Day Sydney festival, last year the event drew in about 20,000 people, it is recognized as a major pacific community event.

Andrew Sheridan retires from rugby due to a damaged neck

Andrew Sheridan has to retire from rugby with immediate effect on medical grounds, at the age of 34, after doctors advised that his damaged neck can no longer take the strain.
The man who has been respected and feared to be England’s scrum destroyer-in-chief received the grim news in the last fortnight. He has won 40 caps Test for his country and two for Lions.
Andrew consulted a specialist to learn whether there was any hope that he might be able to carry on playing rugby but he was advised not to do so.

Scotland Rugby team for various formats

Scotland national Rugby team represents the nation in the World Cup, RBS Six nations, the viagogo autumn tests and the summer tours. The world famous BT Murray field stadium is the home of the team which thrives on its heritage. The first ever international match was played between England and Scotland at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh at 1871. The present squad is a mixture of youth and experience and is managed by Vern Cotter. It includes players like Mark Bennett, Chris Cusiter, Mark Evans, Alex Dunbar, Stuart Hogg, Henry Pyrgos to name a few from the back line.
