Rugby Sevens to make a Debut in Youth Olympics

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset and the President of the International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge are really prospective about the inclusion of the rugby sevens at the youth Olympic Games to be held at Nanjing in 2014.

After this, it will be officially introduced at the Rio Olympics in 2016. With such an approach they think that not only rugby sevens but rugby as a sport will gain more popularity among the youth. This will also give an opportunity to all those aspiring rugby players and fresh stars-to-be in rugby to show their skills and get their career rolling.

Gloucester Rugby Wins the Rugby 7s Trophy

It was a good ending for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Union side Gloucester Rugby at Kingsholm because they are just a step away from taking home their first ever trophy. The team had been backed well by the new manager Nigel Davies.

They finished third at the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s and made it to the finals of the tournament. Meanwhile, The Cherry Whites too gets to play in the finals that is scheduled to be held on the coming Friday.

England Handed Tough Draw for Rugby Sevens

England have been handed a tough draw in which they face the likes of Kenya, Spain and Samoa on the opening day of the HSBC Sevens World Series. The draw for the international Rugby Sevens series was made in Gold Coast, Australia on Monday, the 17th of September for the tournament that is set to be held on the 13th of October. And still, the England team will still start as favorites to progress through the group stages after finishing 3rd last time around.
