Great news for the fans of South African rugby team- The mighty squad has proved their stellar merit once again by clinching victory at the 3rd leg of Rugby World Sevens with a crushing triumph over New Zealand. It was a 26-17 score and the match was hosted at Port Elizabeth.
The Kiwis looked really strong initially as they reached the finale but the host nation came up with a great 12-5 lead, courtesy tries from Cecil Afrika and Philip Snyman. But with Cecil sin-binned, the NZ squad lessened the very deficit to 2 points with Webber (Joe) scoring right on stroke of the half-time.
The 2nd half of the match showed South Africa in a dominating posture with Senatla (Seabelo) scoring a fantastic solo effort, minutes after Cecil got back to the fierce field with du Preez (Branco) adding on extras from timeline. Joe then smashed over under posts compelling NZ to deplete their deficit to 2 points leading to a kind of see-saw match.
However, it was Blitzbokke who came up with final saying with Smith (Kwagga) crossing in last throws of match as the host nation closed the game.
The Australian rugby team have come up with the 3rd position in the World Sevens by beating Argentina with a 34-19 score. On the other hand, the Sevens seemed to be a poor fare for England who sadly had to bow out in semi-finals. United States took over a great 2-14 win against Fiji in finale. Canada triumphed over Kenya with a 24-5 score that was certainly very crushing on part of the Kenyan rugby guys.
In regards to standings in the Rugby World Seven Series, South Africa dominates the lead followed by Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, England, Samoa, Scotland, USA, Wales, France, Canada, Portugal & Kenya.
